Four methods of steel structure mezzanine floor

1.Steel structure cement pressure plate composite floor

Secondary beam purlin (spacing about 600mm) + fibred cement board (or OSB European pine board) + about 40mm thick fine stone lightweight concrete (optional) + decorative surface layer;

This kind of structural scheme has the advantages of low cost, lightweight, short construction period, etc.; it is suitable for the mezzanine transformation of civil residences, office buildings, and industrial projects; when there is a large floor load or vibration load, choose it carefully.

2.Steel structure concrete composite floor

Steel structure floor deck + about 100mm thick reinforced concrete slab + decorative surface

This kind of scheme has the characteristics of high safety performance, large load-bearing capacity, no vibration, and good sound insulation effect. The construction period is slightly longer and the floor weight is larger. It is suitable for buildings with different large and small spans, such as residential buildings, office buildings, various workshops, heavy loads and vibration load floors, etc., with the widest application.

3.Steel structure light-weight board combination floor

About 100mm thick ALC aerated concrete slab + about 30mm rear mortar leveling layer + decorative surface layer;

This structural combination scheme is safe and environmentally friendly, lightweight, high strength, durable and non-deformation, fast construction, short construction period, good insulation and sound insulation, and can be installed at the same height as the upper flange of the steel beam to maximize the use of effective space. It is suitable for office buildings, residential buildings, light factories, etc.; industrial projects with large floor loads or vibration loads are carefully selected.

4.Steel structure steel plate composite floor

The distance between the secondary beam purlins (or stiffening ribs) is less than 600mm + pattern steel plate (or grid plate) + about 40mm thick fine stone concrete (optional) + decorative surface layer (optional);

This structural combination scheme is suitable for buildings such as industrial plants, workshops, equipment rooms, etc., with good load-bearing effect, quick construction, etc., and the effect of heat preservation and sound insulation is slightly poor.

5.The principles for the design and construction of the newly added mezzanine floor are:

5.1 Comprehensive consideration of use functions, energy-saving and heat preservation, sound insulation and noise reduction, environmental coordination and other factors, select the appropriate mezzanine floor form;

5.2 Structural safety comes first, the structural part should be calculated and analyzed, and the appropriate beam-column section form and section size should be selected. Try not to connect the sandwich structure with the beams and columns of the original structure, and try not to damage the original structure;

5.3 The lighter the weight of the added mezzanine floor, the better, and reduce the self-weight load on the original structure;

5.4 The construction is convenient and the impact of construction operations on other areas is as small as possible.

6.Choose steel structure or pure concrete structure for the newly added mezzanine floor:

Some owners and clients asked whether to choose a steel structure mezzanine floor or a pure concrete mezzanine floor. In fact, most of the newly added mezzanine floors are steel structure mezzanine (a type of the above four types of steel structure mezzanine), and pure concrete mezzanine are rarely used. The reasons are as follows:

6.1 The main advantage of the steel structure sandwich is its lightweight. Under the same conditions, the self-weight of concrete floor beams is 3-5 times the self-weight of steel structure floor beams; in general, the self-weight of the steel structure sandwich floor is less than 100kg/m2 (the steel structure concrete composite floor is slightly heavier, and the self-weight is about 300kg/m2), but the weight of the pure concrete floor slab is more than 350kg/m2. The self-weight of the steel mezzanine floor is significantly lower than that of the pure concrete floor.

6.2 The steel structure mezzanine is mostly dry operation, which is convenient for construction, few construction measures, fast construction speed, and little impact on other surrounding areas. The pure concrete mezzanine floor requires on-site scaffolding, supporting formwork, tying steel bars, and pouring beam and slab concrete. There are many wet operations, many construction procedures, many construction measures, long construction periods, and a great impact on the surrounding environment.
