How to define heavy steel structure and light steel structure?
Judging the structure as the heavy steel structure and the light steel structure does not have the same scale, many experienced designers or project managers often cannot fully explain, but we can use some data to consider and judge:
1. Lifting weight of workshop: 25 tons or more, it can be considered as a heavy steel structure.
Second, the amount of steel per square meter: greater than or equal to 50KG/M2, can be a heavy steel structure.
Third, the thickness of the main component steel plate: greater than or equal to 10MM, less used for light steel structures.
4. In addition, there are some reference values: such as cost per square meter, maximum component weight, maximum span, structural form, eaves height, etc. These can provide empirical data when determining whether the plant is heavy steel or light steel. Of course, there are many now. The buildings are both light and heavy steel. However, there are some that we can be more sure of heavy steel: such as petrochemical plant measures, power plant buildings, large-span sports venues, exhibition center, high-rise, or ultra-high-rise steel structures.
5. In fact, there is no heavy steel in the specifications and technical documents. In order to distinguish the steel structure of the light warehouse, it may be more appropriate to call the general steel structure "Pu Steel". Because the range of ordinary steel structure is very wide, it can contain various steel structures, regardless of the load size, and even includes a lot of light steel structure. The technical specifications of the light steel structure of the warehouse are just some more detailed for its "light" characteristics. Content and the scope are limited to single-layer portal frame.
6, light steel is also a relatively vague term, generally can be understood in two ways. One is "light steel structure of round steel and small-angle steel", which refers to a light steel structure made of round steel and angle steel smaller than L45*4 and L56*36*4, which is mainly used when steel is not available in the era when steel is lacking The small structures made of concrete structures are basically not widely used, so this time the revision of the steel structure design specifications has basically tended to be removed. The other is the single-layer solid web portal rigid frame structure with a light roof and light exterior wall (the external wall of the masonry can also be used on-premise) as defined in the "Technical Regulations for Steel Structures of Lightweight warehouse with Portal Rigid Frame" Lightweight here mainly refers to the use of lightweight materials for the enclosure. Since the former one has been canceled soon, the meaning of light steel now mainly refers to the latter one.
7. From this, it can be seen that the difference between light steel and general steel is not the weight of the structure itself, but the weight of the envelope materials it bears, but the structural design concept is still consistent.
