Tall steel workshop structures are commonly used in modern manufacturing enterprises. In high-temperature areas, the high temperature and sultry feeling inside these tall steel workshop buildings are widespread. In particular, some steel structure buildings have neither roofs with good thermal insulation nor effective ventilation facilities such as fans. The problem of high temperature and sultry heat is more prominent. When employees work in such an environment for a long time, their labor intensity increases with excessive physical exertion, labor efficiency decreases, and occupational diseases even occur frequently. So how can we solve the problem of high temperature and sultry heat in tall steel workshop structures in high-temperature areas? We have summarized three methods for your reference.
1. Cover the roof of the steel workshop structure with insulation cotton.
Normally, the insulation cotton used on the roof is glass wool, with a thickness of 50mm, 75mm, 100mm and a density of 10kg/m. Generally, the indoor temperature can be reduced by 5-8℃ after the installation of glass wool on the roof. The construction process is pretty complicated. If the old factory building needs to be rebuilt for thermal insulation, then it is necessary to remove the original roof, pull on the steel wire mesh, lay glass wool on the steel wire mesh, cover the original roof panel, and finally make waterproof treatment.
2.Spray efficient heat-insulating reflective paint on the roof panel.
This paint possesses excellent thermal insulation performance and can be coated on various surfaces such as metal, concrete, gray wall, wooden structure surface, asbestos tile, plastic, glass fiber reinforced plastic, rubber and so on. The coating is 0.25mm thick, and its effect is commensurate with the effect of 250px-375px glass wool. It can reflect 99.5% infrared and 92.5% visible light. Its highest sound insulation effect could reach 68%, and the uniform sound insulation effect is more than 50%. Fireproof Class A, completely non-combustible. It is poisonless, safe, long-lasting and durable, with a service life of more than 15 years (refer to the engineering material file for specific introduction). The construction is convenient if this method is used, the original roof won’t be damaged, and the aging of roof can be prevented. The maximum difference of plate surface’s temperature between after and before construction can reach 20℃ and the indoor temperature difference can reach 8-10℃. The energy consumption of steel workshop structure can be reduced by 30-70%.
3.Adding fans inside the steel structure.
Install a sufficient number of suction fans on the walls or windows of the workshop according to the actual situation of the steel workshop building, equipment layout and personnel distribution. Sometimes the fans could be installed on the air duct on the roof. By using the mechanical kinetic energy of the suction fan, the high-temperature, sultry and poorly ventilated air gathered in the workshop is forced to be discharged outside the workshop, and forcing the cool air outside the workshop to enter into the workshop for convection exchange. Eliminate the accumulation of high temperature and stuffy air in the workshop to solve the problem of poor ventilation in the workshop. It’s better to ask a professional organization or engineer to plan and design the installation position of the suction fan and ventilation line according to the site conditions.
There are three following main reasons for the high temperature and sultry heat in the steel workshop structure. Firstly, the roof of the steel workshop structure is not well insulated, and the heat from the sunlight on the roof in summer is extended to the workshop directly. Secondly, there is no air circulation in the tall steel workshops, which makes heat accumulation that cannot be dissipated. Thirdly, the heat generated by the machinery and equipment during production in the steel structure is dissipated into the workshop. Most of these problems are caused by poor ventilation, which can be solved by adding windows and fans. The stagnant hot air, peculiar smell, black smoke and dirty air in the workshop are discharged outside in the shortest time to create a suction environment in the room and forcing the outdoor air to enter the room through doors and windows.
