Installation skills for maintenance system of steel structure

The maintenance system of steel structure mainly concludes 360-degree vertical seam roof system, trapezoidal panel wall system, corrugated panel wall system, polyurethane energy-saving sandwich panel roof & wall system, new fire-resistant rock wool/glass wool sandwich panel roof & wall system. Roof systems and wall systems are mostly prefabricated in factories, wall panels will be installed first and then the roof panel after the panels arriving on site.

For the installation of metal roofing systems, metal profiling equipment is sometimes used to go directly to the construction site and to be raised to a height almost equal to the height of building’s roof. After on-site profiling, the on-site construction of the roofing system and related accessories will be directly carried out. The roof system and wall system process multiple functions such as beauty, rigidity, waterproof, and wind resistance.

Sandwich panels are widely used in factories, warehouses, office buildings and other projects for easy and fast installation, heat insulation, fire protection, environmental protection, beautiful appearance, and light unit weight. The panels are composed of inner and outer steel plates and core materials. The outer steel plates are generally 0.6mm thick with the surface coating of PVDF or PE. The inner steel plates are generally 0.4 or 0.5mm thick with the coating of PE. The outer steel plate surface form is generally divided into three types: flat, small corrugated and embossed. The core material is generally made of rock wool, glass wool or polyurethane materials. The steel panels and core material will be composited by machine. Here we’d like to share the installation procedure and skills of sandwich panel as following.

Material arrival and unloading

The stacking site for panels should be level and solid, and the road can meet the requirements of transportation vehicles. For every 10,000 square meters of sandwich plates, about 1,000 square meters of stacking space is needed. When hoisting, the panel in contact with the sling needs to be protected by a soft appliance. For long-length sandwich panels, three-point lifting should be used, and a pole should be used for the upper part.

Confirmation of purlin

1.Confirm whether the purlins are installed in the same plane.

2.Whether the deviation of verticality or displacement of the purlin on the axis is too large.

3.According to the design, the elevation of the flashing plate, support plate, and the vertical ink line at the butt joint of the plate should be marked on the purlin.

Installation of flashing plate and support plate

1.Install the flashing plate and support plate according to the elevation line, and pay attention to the use of the liner.

2.Installation of outer and inner angle corner cover edge.

Installation of sandwich panel

1.Lift the sandwich panels in place according to the layout drawing and use the special lift machine for vertical transportation of the panels.

2.Install the sandwich panels from bottom to top. For sandwich panels that need to be cut, the iron filings should be cleaned up after cutting to prevent rust.

3.Use self-tapping nails to fix the metal plate on the purlin. Pay attention to the nailing strength and not tighten the screws too tightly to prevent deformation of the fixing plate.

4.Paste waterproof seals and sealant on both ends of the metal plate to prevent rainwater from flowing into the plate along the transverse seams.

Installation of metal inserts and other processes

1.Before installation, tear off the protective film on the metal plate where you want to install it.

2.For the installation of the outer metal inserts, pay attention to the use of the liner at the overlap and paste the sealing tape on both sides.

3.Use screws to connect the inner and outer metal inserts together

Gluing construction of outer metal inserts

1.Before gluing, taste masking paper on the construction part and stuff insulation cotton in the insert

2.Glue and repair and flatten.

3.Tear off the protective film.
