Currently commonly used gutter materials and scope of application
At present, there are three commonly used gutter materials: steel gutter with 3~6mm thickness, stainless steel gutter with 0.8~1.2mm thickness, and color steel gutter with 0.6mm thickness.
Steel gutters and stainless steel gutters can be applied to the majority of projects. Stainless steel gutters are commonly used in coastal areas and projects with strong corrosive gases. Color plate gutters are mainly used as external gutters for small project or project with small drainage volume.

The following conditions must be met before installing the steel gutter: the main steel structure (beam, column) has been installed and adjusted, and all high-strength bolts have been completely tightened. For projects with parapet walls, the parapet columns and corresponding wall beams have been installed and adjusted. The steel gutter has been carried out. Electric welding machine and welders are in place.
According to the size and weight of the gutter, hoist or manually lift the gutter to the designated installation area after transporting the steel gutter in place, and connect the gutter by electric welding immediately. After all the materials for a gutter are delivered, pull a steel wire along the outside of the gutter to adjust the two sides of the gutter to the same straight line. Pay attention to minimize the gap between the gutter joints during adjusting, and fix them temporarily by electric welding, then fully welded the bottom horizontal weld and the straight welds on both sides with a 3.2mm electrode.
The location of the gutter downfall is positioned according to the design requirements. Generally, the conventional downfall is opened on the side of the steel column or steel beam. Pay attention to the support position when opening the hole and try to avoid it to reduce the amount of downpipe accessories. When opening the hole, consider the installation method of the downpipe. It will be better to determine the fixing method of the downpipe hose clamp before proceeding, so as to shorten the material of the fixed hose clamp and reduce the cost. Holes can be made by gas cutting or angle grinders. It is strictly forbidden to make holes directly by electric welding. After the hole is opened, use an angle grinder to trim the shaft and the periphery, and then weld the steel pipe drain to the gutter. Pay attention to the welding quality during welding to prevent missing of welding. After welding, clean up the welding slag in time.
After all the gutters are welded and passed the inspection, the welding slag in the welding place should be cleaned up again, and the paint in the welding area should be cleaned up with an iron brush, and then repaired with an anti-rust paint in same specification as the original paint. The gutter surface paint shall be applied before the roof panel construction according to the design requirements.
