As a significant part of steel structure buildings, the covered edge plays an important role, especially to prevent the water from getting in the steel structure. Typical common covered edge can be divided into four types, including roof system, wall system, window system, and others. Now let’s follow the editor to find out more details of these different covered edges.
Roof System
ridge tile
The terminology of ridge tile is the ridge cover plate. It is placed on the top of the ridge, where the two roof panels overlapped. It is used to prevent roof leakage. There are many models of fixed-length ridge tiles, such as 820, 840, 950, 980, 930, and 1000. Generally, the thickness of the plate is between 0.4mm to 0.6mm.

cornice sealing
It is used on the end of the roof panel near the cornice to cover the sandwich panel, which is conducive to centralized drainage. Generally, the thickness is 0.4mm.

verge sealing
It is placed on where gable panel and roof panel overlapped to cover sandwich panel, which could prevent rainwater from seeping into the steel structure from joint gap.

gutter
Gutter includes inner gutter and outer gutter. The inner gutter is usually used at the junction of two steel structure buildings or inside the steel structure buildings which need the parapet. And the outer gutter is generally placed under the eave to centralized drainage or collect rainwater for recycle.

Wall System
vertical covered edge
The main functions of vertical covered edge are decoration and water proof. It generally involves mechanism interior and exterior steel angle, and U-shape groove. The interior and exterior steel angles are used at the connect gap between wall panel and roof panel. The U-shape groove is used to cover windows or doors to prevent water from getting inside. U-shape groove can be made by hot plate, galvanized plate and stainless steel.

wall panel flashing
The wall panel flashing is used for steel structure buildings with brick wall, and placed at the connection part between wall panel and brick wall to prevent water getting in the building.

vertical lapped joints used for transverse panel
Some steel structure buildings will adopt transverse wall panel for pretty performance, then the vertical lapped joints are necessary at that time. They could prevent the steel structure building from water getting in and also make a role of decoration.

Window system
The U-shape groove could be used to make the simple coverage of the window and door, if the better performance is needed, then the indefinite length bend part will be a better choice.

Others
Here we take the head plate as an example. The head plate will be fixed at the both ends of floor support plate to prevent water getting in.
