Currently commonly used gutter materials and scope of application
At present, there are three commonly used gutter materials: steel gutter with 3~6mm thickness, stainless steel gutter with 0.8~1.2mm thickness, and color steel gutter with 0.6mm thickness.
Scope of Application
Steel gutters and stainless steel gutters can be applied to the majority of projects. Stainless steel gutters are commonly used in coastal areas and projects with strong corrosive gases. Color plate gutters are mainly used as external gutters for small project or project with small drainage volume.

A. installation conditions
The following conditions must be met before installing the steel gutter: the main steel structure (beam, column) has been installed and adjusted, and all high-strength bolts have been completely tightened. For projects with parapet walls, the parapet columns and corresponding wall beams have been installed and adjusted. The steel gutter has been carried out. Electric welding machine and welders are in place.
According to the size and weight of the gutter, hoist or manually lift the gutter to the designated installation area after transporting the steel gutter in place, and connect the gutter by electric welding immediately. After all the materials for a gutter are delivered, pull a steel wire along the outside of the gutter to adjust the two sides of the gutter to the same straight line. Pay attention to minimize the gap between the gutter joints during adjusting, and fix them temporarily by electric welding, then fully welded the bottom horizontal weld and the straight welds on both sides with a 3.2mm electrode.
C. drain opening
The location of the gutter downfall is positioned according to the design requirements. Generally, the conventional downfall is opened on the side of the steel column or steel beam. Pay attention to the support position when opening the hole and try to avoid it to reduce the amount of downpipe accessories. When opening the hole, consider the installation method of the downpipe. It will be better to determine the fixing method of the downpipe hose clamp before proceeding, so as to shorten the material of the fixed hose clamp and reduce the cost. Holes can be made by gas cutting or angle grinders. It is strictly forbidden to make holes directly by electric welding. After the hole is opened, use an angle grinder to trim the shaft and the periphery, and then weld the steel pipe drain to the gutter. Pay attention to the welding quality during welding to prevent missing of welding. After welding, clean up the welding slag in time.
After all the gutters are welded and passed the inspection, the welding slag in the welding place should be cleaned up again, and the paint in the welding area should be cleaned up with an iron brush, and then repaired with an anti-rust paint in same specification as the original paint. The gutter surface paint shall be applied before the roof panel construction according to the design requirements.
2. Stainless Gutter

a. The installation conditions and hole making requirements of stainless gutters are same as steel gutters’.
b. The stainless steel gutter welding adopts argon arc welding, and the welding rod adopts the stainless steel wire with the same material of the gutter, and the diameter can be the same as the plate thickness. Before the formal welding, the welder should be organized to conduct trial welding, and batch welding can be started only after qualified. At the same time, it is best to appoint a special person to perform the welding, and arrange an assistant to work together to improve the main production efficiency. After the drain is welded, the area should also be properly smashed to facilitate drainage. Stainless steel welding rods must be cleaned up before being used.
c. Since the stainless steel gutter is formed by hemming, then the dimensional deviation is inevitable. Therefore, the gutter should be fully inspected before being shipped, and the gap between the joints should be adjusted to the minimum. The gutters should be fixed by spot welding firstly.
3.Color Steel Gutter

a. The gutter installation can be carried out after the roof panel is installed, or it can be installed together with roof panel. The details can be flexibly determined according to the site conditions.
b. The fixing of the color board gutter is divided into two parts, one is to connect the inner gutter and the roof with self-tapping nails or riveted by pulling rivets, and the other one is to connect the flange of the outer plate with rivets. The ditch brace is connected with rivets, the other side of brace is connected to the slab and purlin with the self-tapping nail that fixes the roof slab at the wave crest of the roof panel.
c. The down pipe hole on the gutter can be made with a cutting machine directly, and the position should meet the design requirements. The drain and the bottom of the gutter are fixed with rivets according to the requirements of relevant standard.
